- Come assist the Texas Land Conser-vancy in this ongoing effort to revive and maintain the native grasses and wildflowers on this site near Batson, Texas. Work tasks vary by month, but usually involve controlling the regrowth of woody spe-cies and keeping the prairie clear for mowing. Tools provided. Adams Bayou Clean Up
— Shangri La will host the Community Trash –Off 8:00—1:00. Headquarters is at Orange Lions Park, located at 1802 Main in Orange. After gathering trash all teams are invited to return to Lions Park for free pizza and soft drinks at Noon. Door prizes will be awarded and all participants will get a free ticket to The Great Mountain performance at the Lutcher Theater on Saturday, February 8 at 6:30. Saturday February 22 - Field Trip to Cattail Marsh and Tyrrell Park. Meet at the parking lot for Cattail Marsh at 8:00 AM. The parking lot is accessed from the loop road round the main picnic area in Tyrell Park in Beaumont. Some birds can be seen with minimal walking, but the group will probably make a leisurely three or so mile hike round the various cells in the marsh. Walking is on the levee; the main ones are graveled, but some of the interior ones are mowed grass. This is a good trip for beginners as well as more experienced birders. Golden Triangle Audubon. Sunday March 9th — Sunday in the Park — Roy E Larsen Sandylands Nature Conservancy Pre-serve - The 5,654-acre Roy E. Larsen Sandyland Sanctuary harbors a variety of plant communities, in-cluding one of the last remaining longleaf pine communities in Texas. A rare combination of swamp, open-floor forest and southern pinelands create a preserve with remarkable diversity, sustaining 582 plant species and 234 animal species.
