QUESTION: Since restoration of groundwater post uranium mining requires vast amounts of water, what mechanisms does TCEQ currently have in place for pre-permitting consultation with state, regional, county, and local water planning groups to ensure that sufficient water will be available long-term to complete the restoration process?
If such mechanisms exist, what are they specifically?
If such mechanisms do not exist, will TCEQ take the initiative in drafting regulations which would assure that consultations described in the question above would take place before uranium mining permits are granted?
