We will leave El Paso early Saturday morning and drive to the trailhead near the U.S. Forest Service Mimbres Ranger Station on New Mexico Highway 61. This hike is a section of the Continental Divide Trail. We will hike up a side canyon to a saddle and then descend into Allie Canyon, which runs water in the winter. After setting up our tents and hanging our food bags, we can hike further up the Canyon or check out the old line cabin, which will be our refuge in case of extreme cold. On Sunday, we will hike back out the same trail. Come enjoy the beauty and solitude of the Gila in the winter.
