Ten Reasons You Should Go On The Pecos Bus Trip

The Dallas Sierra Club would like to issue a special invitation to you to attend our Pecos adventure over the 4th of July holiday week. Here are 10 reasons why you should consider this offer.

  1. The scenery will be awesome. The Pecos Wilderness has great mountains, beautiful lakes and streams. While Pecos is east of Santa Fe and our Bandelier trip at Memorial Day is just west of Santa Fe, the topography is vastly different.
  2. hikersOpportunity to summit several peaks over 12,000 feet.
  3. View wildlife. On our last visit to Pecos, we saw coyotes and deer near our campsite that was adjacent to a mountain lake.
  4. Trips rated from moderate hiking to some really tough stuff (see the next item).
  5. Kathryn Hurn, who leads trip 5, has put together an itinerary to challenge our strongest hikers to see if anyone can match her hiking capabilities.
  6. Breath fresh air, getting away from the air pollution in DFW.
  7. Relax in a beautiful mountain environment without traffic.
  8. Enjoy the simple logistics of getting there on our chartered sleeper bus. Just show up on Tuesday night, wake up at the trailhead. Reverse the process coming home. No rent cars, no planes.
  9. Have fun.
  10. Spend time with others who enjoy the outdoors.
  11. Great photography opportunities. We will arrange for great light at sunset and sunrise. Wildflowers will be at their peak.
  12. The star gazing will be incredible due to low light pollution and the moon will not be up.
  13. Escape the summer heat in Dallas. Enjoy the cool mountains and lake environment.
  14. Improve your sex life.
