10 Reasons to go on the Bandelier Bus Trip
May 23-27
The Dallas Sierra Club would like to issue a special invitation to you
to attend our Bandelier adventure over the Memorial Day weekend. Here
are 10 reasons why you should consider this offer.
- The scenery will be great. Bandelier offers a unique topography
compared to all of our other trips. Bandelier’s geology is based on
volcanic tuff with rivers etching their way through the soft rock.
- Bandelier also provides a unique opportunity to see native
American ruins from 700 years ago. This is one of the primary
locations that the Anasazi people moved after their migration from
the four corners area. Not only will you see interesting ruins, but
mysterious rock art also exists here.
Several trips will see awesome waterfalls in the Frijoles
Canyon.
- Breath fresh air, getting away from the air pollution in DFW.
- Relax in a beautiful environment without traffic.
- Enjoy the simple logistics of getting there on our chartered
sleeper bus. Just show up on Friday night, wake up at the trailhead.
Reverse the process coming home. No rent cars, no planes.
- NO vacation required. The trip leaves on Friday night and
returns early on Tuesday morning.
- Have fun.
- Visit the amazing Stone Lions.
- Spend time with others who enjoy the outdoors.
- Learn about the unique geologic history of this area. Learn
about the Rio Grande Rift and Tuff.
- Great photography opportunities. We will arrange for great light
at sunset and sunrise.
- The star gazing will be incredible due to low light pollution and the moon will not be up late.
- Experienced leaders: Bill Beach for trip 1,
Greg Holman for trip 2, Lynn Marple, Cy Cantrell and
Arthur Kuehne for trip 3, Kent Trulsson for trip 4, and Kathryn Hurn for trip 5.
Ok, so we cannot count - we just got carried away..
Early sign up will get you a better seat on the bus! |
