SIERRA CLUB September 2003 Meeting Notes
Hi: Just thought I would tell you about the meeting
yesterday and say that we missed you all.
There were nine there, one new person. The biggest news is that the Art Center wants to
charge
rent for the meeting place (the Burney room is now an office) and they really do not have
a place
we can meet. They said they would charge $4 a head. So I will be looking for another place
to
meet. We hope to meet at the central library or the Audubon Nature Center across from
Blutcher park and "brown bag" lunch. The group present were certain they wanted
to meet at noon.
We talked mainly about Leon Loeb's proposal which is now getting "fast track"
treatment by
the city. They hads snubbed him while Landry's offer was on the table. Actually Loeb will
have
trouble getting his permit from the Corps because his plan has apartments and offices and
only a
little water related stuff. We will see.
Good news though. Mina Williams agreed to be vice-chairman; Venice Scheuriich will do
conservation,
and Kathy Griffith will help with membership.
