Stop the Drilling! Save our Seashore!

A weekend camp-in for Sierrans at Padre Island National Seashore March 29-31
will have fun activities with the serious purpose of protesting drilling in our
national park and protesting the Bush Administration’s destructive public lands
agenda. This project is a first for Texas: it has the backing and involvement
of the National, Regional, State, and Coastal Bend Sierra components.

Activities include a Saturday (March 29) Beach Cleanup at 3 p.m. and on Sunday
a Sea Turtle Sand Castle Contest opening at 10 a.m. and a 4 p.m.
Camp Fire Sing-a-Long.

Sally Drews and Erin Rogers from the State Sierra and Phyllis Dunham from
National Sierra came to the meeting to talk about needs for the Camp-in and
advice on where to go in town for help. They emphasized that a lot of
volunteers are needed for registration, serving food and drink, first aid,
guarding the sand castles, etc.

Put Suter, Chair, reported $12,139.71 in the treasury, that April 12 is the last
date for comments on the Packery Channel Final EIS, and that Earth Day-Bay Day
will be celebrated April 14 at Hazel Bazemore Park.
