Kauai, Hawaii Trip

From June 26th until July 5th, seventeen fortunate Austin Sierra Club participants returned to Kauai (actually it was a "return" only for two of the leaders, for everyone else it was the first time for this trip) and camped, hiked, swam, snorkled and boated the fabulous 'Garden Island' of Kauai.

1. Of course we returned to Hideaways beach, the favorite of all the beaches for many people in the group. It is beautiful, not crowded and the snorkling is excellent. [Photo © copyright Jatana Neff.] Hideaways beach.

4. Overview of the Hanalei Valley, famous from the song about 'Puff the Magic Dragon' and one of the most beautiful and interesting areas of Kauai. Valley Overlook.


5. Wailua Falls on the Wailua River was the background for the opening shot of "Fantasy Island." Wailua Falls.

14. Sunset at 'Anini Beach. We moved back to this beach from Haena Beach park as soon as we could. It is by far the best camping beach we found. Beach Sunset.
