Program Topic: Growing Green Businesses: The Sustainable Business Movement

Location: Texas State Teachers Association building (TSTA) at 12th Street and Lavaca. (Follow this link for a MAP of the location of the TSTA complex.)

Presenters: Presenters: Sarah Cooke, Founder & President, Net Impact Austin; & Andrew Mangan, Executive Director, United States Business Council for Sustainable Development (US BCSD)

Time: 6:30 PM (program starts at 7 PM)

Join us for an interesting discussion with two leaders of organizations dedicated to developing sustainable business practices. Sarah Cooke is Founder and President of Net Impact Austin, a network of business-minded and socially-motivated changemakers. The organization's mission is to inspire, educate, and equip individuals to use the power of business to create a more socially and environmentally sustainable world. A professional chapter affiliate of Net Impact, an international NGO serving 15,000 members globally, Net Impact Austin was recognized as 2008 Rookie Chapter of the Year and certified a Gold Chapter for 2009. Andrew Mangan is co-founder and executive director of the United States Business Council for Sustainable Development, the leading national organization in creating cross-industry and public-private relationships to solve environmental and social challenges while improving its members’ bottom line. The US BCSD is a partner of the World Business Council for Sustainable Development, a global network of 200 international companies with members drawn from 30 countries and 20 major industrial sectors. The World BCSD plays a leading role in shaping the global business response to the challenges of sustainable development. The US BCSD plays a complimentary role by implementing projects in the US that apply sustainable development principles to real world problems.

about the meetings

The Austin Regional Group now meets on the first Tuesday of every month (except holidays) in the Auditorium of the Texas State Teachers Association building (TSTA) at 12th Street and Lavaca. All general meetings are open to members and non-members alike. Please join us for an activists' letter writing session prior to the meeting. From 6:30 until 7:00 PM we will have materials and information available so that you can write letters to public officials on important conservation topics at the local, national and international level. Get involved and take action with a quick letter before the meeting!

  • Doors open at 6:15 for outings sign-up and letter-writing;
  • Meeting starts at 7:00 PM
