is simply no time to lose - please donate today and help
save the polar bear before it’s too late.
Please read this if you care about wildlife or species diversity

 For the past few weeks we’ve been keeping
you updated on the fate of the polar bear and the impact that
global warming is having on its survival.
Just last week there was an alarming new development
-- oil exploration lease sales for Alaska’s Chukchi Seas - prime
polar bear habitat --officially began. This area has
been off-limits to drilling since 1991, but the new lease sales
have encouraged oil companies to bid in epic proportions, with
the result that oil lease rights to nearly 30 million acres
of disappearing polar bear habitat were auctioned off -
an area that is home to an estimated one-tenth of the world’s
polar bears!
There is simply no time to lose. The federal agency
in charge of the sales has another 90 days to review the bids.
And we need to get the polar bear on the Endangered Species
List right now so the oil companies will be forced to clear
more hurdles before drilling could occur in this sensitive
area. That’s
why we need your support right now to help us get the polar
bear listed before it's too late.
Polar bears would be listed today but powerful special
interests are fighting this decision at every step.
That’s why we are asking you to donate
today and send a message to the Administration that if they
are serious about protecting the polar bear, it’s time to include
the polar bear on the Endangered Species List - right now!
This magnificent animal cannot sustain another threat its
survival. An oil spill in this area would be catastrophic
for polar bears since there is no proven method for cleaning
up oil in the Arctic’s broken sea ice.
We simply cannot sit back and wait until the ice sheets melt
and the last polar bear drowns before we address the devastating
impacts that global warming has had on the polar bear. If we
don’t act now to get the polar bear onto the endangered species
list and combat global warming, America’s polar bears could
be gone in our lifetime.
