OCT 15 (WED) OUTINGS COMMITTEE MEETING. Meet in the upstairs program room at REI (on north side of LBJ between Midway and Welch), at 7:00 PM. Bring your ideas for the Dallas Sierra Club Outings program. We will be planning local outings and bus trips. All outings leaders, future outings leaders, and interested Sierrans welcome. Ask Bill to be placed on the email list for an agenda. Contact: Bill Greer 972-964-1781(H)

OCT 18-19 (SAT-SUN) BACKPACK CANEY CREEK TRAIL, ARKANSAS This popular trail is justifiably famous for nice scenery, great campsites, and easy hiking. Here’s your chance to hike the full 9.5 mile length of this scenic trail, including a visit to the west end cane breaks that give the area its name. With about 5 miles each day and modest climbs this is a moderate hike. We will need to wade the knee-deep Cossatot River on the west end and wade some crossings of Caney Creek. We had planned to do this as a “key exchange” trip until we discovered that Club insurance does not allow these trips any more. There is a way to keep the car shuttle under an hour. Contact Bill to sign up. Leaders: Bill Greer 972-964-1781(H) and Mike Rawlins 972-783-0962(H)

OCT 18-19 (SAT-SUN) BEGINNER BACKPACK TRIP IN THE BEECH CREEK SCENIC AREA Backpack about 9 relatively flat and easy miles round trip in this beautiful area in S.E. Oklahoma.
